John F. Sutton passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at his home in McCook, after a battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.

John was born in McCook to Jack D. and Margaret Mary (Petherbridge) Sutton on January 9, 1953. He graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1972. 

On August 25, 1984 he was united in marriage to Lori Lynn Hock at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. They made their home in McCook where John was an engineer for the BNSF Railroad. He had just recently retired after almost 40 years of service to the railroad. 

John was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack and Margaret Sutton; one sister, Mary (Sutton) Dodot; and niece, Desirae Dodot. 

Survivors include his wife, Lori Sutton of McCook; son, Christopher Menke of Clear Lake, IA; brothers, Paul Sutton and wife, Marie, of McCook, Charlie Sutton and wife, Diane, of Westminster, CO, and Robert Sutton of Cle Elum, WA; step-brother, John Pizar and wife, Lynn, of Spokane, WA; step-sister, JoAnn and husband, Dennis DeJonge, of Kearney; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. 

Memorials may be given in his name. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 1-6:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.carpenterbreland.com 

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 16, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. 

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour, Father Andrew Heaslip, and Father Neal Hock as celebrants. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.
