McCOOK, Neb. -- Robert Louis Dack, 63, entered Heaven on Aug. 5, 2015, from the Harvard Rest Haven Nursing Home, Harvard, Neb.

Memorial services will be Monday, June 27, 2016, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel, 607 Norris, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Mockry officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Memorial Park.

Born in St. Catherine's Hospital in McCook on Sept. 18, 1951, Robert was the eldest son of Robert Francis and Betty Louise (Burton) Dack. He began school at Red Willow, east of town, when on Sept. 26, 1956, he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the highway to home, suffering injuries that would unknowingly impact his entire life. Not long after the accident, the family moved to town, where he graduated with the McCook High School Class of 1969.

He took up technical drawing and graduated from the Northwest Kansas Area Vo-Tech School of Goodland, Kansas, Class of 1971. He then enlisted in the Navy's Vocational School Graduate Program, where he was honorably discharged in May 1972 from San Diego, Calif., due to medical issues.

On May 19, 1973, he married Donna Jean Duckworth at McCook United Memorial Methodist Church. To this union two children were born: Melissa Kaye and Stephan Jeremiah. During this time he was employed as a draftsman with Cessna Fluid Power and American Maplan in Kansas. Again medical issues would disrupt his life, resulting in total disability and divorce.

On Nov. 22, 1985, he married Sherrie Lynn Goad at McCook First Assembly of God Church. To this union two children were born: Carter Burton Goad and Stuart Rhett Richmond. Bob attended McCook Community College and graduated in 1995 with an associate of applied science degree.

Growing up in the Methodist faith, Bob accepted Jesus as his Savior and maintained a Christian lifestyle. He was a talented artist and writer. He sketched many historic buildings and wrote several stories along with a book of various poems. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, Atlanta Braves baseball and Nebraska Husker football. Family vacations would include golfing at many top courses, attending several baseball stadiums and catching a couple football games in Lincoln.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents; parents, Robert and Betty Dack; sister, Jana Sue Biltoft; brothers, Richard William "Billy" and Dana Gary Dack; along with his sister-in-law, Julie Kreugar Dack and brother-in-law, Kavin Latimer.

He is survived by his sons, Carter and Stuart Dack and their mother, Sherrie Dack of McCook; daughter, Melissa (Jeremy) Markey of Berthoud, Colo.; son, Jeremy Stanzel of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.. and their mother, Donna (David) Stanzel of McCook; grandchildren, Liberty Grace Markey, Aspen Robertson and Zidane Markey of Berthoud, Colo.; sister-in-law, Shirley Dack of McCook and brother-in-law, Lynn (Kaylen) Biltoft of Columbus, Neb;. aunts, Barbara Grafel and Karen Dack of McCook and uncle, Jim Ellis of Cambridge, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be addressed to the Herrman-Jones Funeral Chapel to help with expenses.

Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
