LINCOLN, Neb. -- Jerry Dean Harris, age 65, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away Friday at his home, Sept. 5, 2014, in Lincoln. Jerry was a former resident of McCook, Nebraska.

Jerry, a twin, was born June 8, 1949, in Wagner, South Dakota, to parents James Melvin and Violette Dorothy (Ree) Harris.

Jerry attended and graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1968.

On Jan. 17, 1976, Jerry married Ina Hatch in Parker, Colorado. The couple made their home in McCook, where Jerry joined his father in the family construction business. Together, they specialized in erecting grain bins across the Midwest. In 1998, son Bo joined Jerry and in 2002 they formed Double H General Contractors and moved the family business to Lincoln.

Jerry was an avid sports fan who loved his Huskers, the Greenbay Packers and Boston Celtics. He also enjoyed watching the Tennessee Volunteers and Husker Women's basketball, as well as PGA golf on Sunday afternoons. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for family and friends. Jerry was a charter member of the Red Willow Western Rural Volunteer Fire Department.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Violette Harris.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Ina Harris, of Lincoln; son, Bo (Jessica Vermaas) Harris of Lincoln; daughter, Amber (Todd Brown) Harris of McCook; father, James Harris of McCook; twin sister, Sherry (William) Lytle of McCook; brother, Tom Harris of McCook; grandson Brayden Vermaas, as well as one grandson on the way. Also surviving is Jerry's father-in-law, Dale McNutt; sisters-in-law, Pat (Harold) Yost, Jeanie (Ken) Miller and Anita (Jim) Lytle; Lori Khamouna; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and special dog, Red.

Memorials are suggested to the Community Hospital Foundation, PO Box 1328, McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 10AM at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery also located in McCook.
