NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska --Ronald L. Myers passed away Jan. 10, 2012, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center after a short and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63.

He was born on July 26, 1948, in McCook, Nebraska, to Lloyd and the late Violet Ruzicka Myers. Ron graduated from McCook High School in 1967.

 

After graduating from high school, he was drafted and joined the United States Navy. He served four tours of duty in Vietnam.

 

On Aug. 28, 1970, he married Victoria Jean Schneider at St Patrick Catholic Church in McCook, Nebraska. To this union two wonderful sons were born, Shane and Jason.

 

He worked for the McCook Fire Department for 12 years. After that, he was a Walmart Department Manager for eight years. He then moved to North Platte, Nebraska, and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 18 years.

 

He loved trains, model railroading, playing computer games and going to Husker football games. He also loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren.

 

He is survived by Vicky, his wife of 41 years, two sons, Shane (wife Heather) of Omaha and Jason (wife Renae) of Olathe, Kansas; his grandchildren, Tayte and Abygail of Omaha and Alexis of Olathe; his father, Lloyd of McCook, his sister, Susan (husband, Ken Wells) of McCook; a brother, Roger of North Platte and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet, brother, Richard, brother in law, Clifford Schneider, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Victor and Betty Schneider, all of McCook.

 

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook.

 

Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

 

Visitation in McCook will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Herrmann Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook and Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte are in charge of arrangements.

Susan Myers (Wells) (1967)

I will miss my Brother so much, it's hard to think of him gone but I know we will meet again, rest in peace my dear Brother, I love♥ very much!!  Susan
