Gary Mackey - Class Of 1965

Gary Lee Mackey
(January 27, 1947 - October 12, 2012)

Gary Lee Mackey of Fort Collins, CO was born on Monday, January 27, 1947 in McCook, NE and passed away in Cuba, MO on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the age of 65 years, 8 months, and 15 days.

He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War. He married Vicky S. Knepper on June 5, 1971. He graduated from High School in McCook, NE and completed 2 years of Drafting School. He was a home builder in Nebraska and Colorado for several years. He later became an over the road truck driver. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Ft. Collins, CO and enjoyed drag racing.He will be truly missed by his family who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents George and Minnie Mackey; brothers George, Dale, and Bill Mackey.

He is survived by his wife Vicky S. Mackey of Ft. Collins, CO; son Bryon (Jamie) Mackey; daughter Robin (Rob Brewster) Mackey all of Wellington, CO; sister Eunice Kay Ulrich of Denver, CO; step sisters Marilyn Masters of Lincoln, NE, Marsha (Lyle) Pholmeier of Lawrence, NE, Carolyn (Jerry) Goebel of Hastings, NE and Mary (Larry) Arnold of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Marlin D. (Patricia) Knepper of Cape Cod, MA, sister-in-law Cecilia Knepper of McCook, NE, step brother-in-law Marvin (Kathleen) Oster of Wichita, KS; step sister-in-law Velma Perini of Lakewood, CO; 2 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will take place at 1:30PM on November 3, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Fort Collins, CO with full military honors.

Memorials may be given to the Elks Help Handicapped Kids, Elks Club, Ft. Collins, CO; or Relay for Life, Ft. Collins, CO.

Arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO.

Craig Larmon (1967)

Gary traveled with our band "The Knightman" in mid 60's.  He would help us set up, worked admissions, and at times had to deal with unruly patrons.  A warm hearted person whom I have never forgotten.
