Virginia Ann (Stroup) Jensen
Nov. 16, 1945 - April 25, 2023

Virginia was born in Benkelman, NE on November 16, 1945, to Harold and Bertie Stroup. She
lived on a farm near Bird City, KS until the family moved to Parks, NE. She attended school in
Parks until the 7 th grade and then graduated from high school in McCook, NE in 1964. Upon
graduation from high school, Virginia worked at A&W Root Beer. She moved to Max, NE with
her parents and worked at school and at a grocery store in Stratton, NE. It was here she met
the love of her life, Elwin Jensen in 1964. They were married on October 25, 1965, and they
moved to Oak Grove, AR in 1966.
Their son Kevin was born in 1966 followed by daughter Lauri in 1967. The Jensen family lived
in Shady Grove TX then moved to Keeline, WY where son Keith ws born in 1972. Virginia drove
a school bus in Wyoming in 1975-76 before moving to Wray, CO in 1977 where she worked as
a waitress, a hardware store clerk, and a police dispatcher.
She was a member of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Posse. The Jensen family relocated to Irving,
TX in 1984 where she worked as a secretary and as an answering service clerk. The Jensen
family settled in Graford, TX in 1987 where she worked at the Texaco Quick Stop and at
Morrow’s Grocery.
She died at home in Graford, TX on April 25, 2023. Virginia was known to everyone in all of
these places as a talented child, loving mother, loving wife, good friend, hard-working employee,
and dedicated child of God.
Virginia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Bertie Stroup, brother Lyle
Stroup, nephew Heath and son Kevin Jensen.

Survivors include her husband Elwin Jensen, daughter Lauri, son Keith, brother-in-law Jerry
Jensen and his wife Ada. She is also survived by sister Cindy Swigert, two granddaughters
Clara and Jacci, one great granddaughter Rikki, nieces Emily, Alicia, Angi, and Rita as well as
other extended family.
A memorial service will be held in Benkelman, NE on July 15 th , 2023.
