Roland Wesch - Class Of 1964 VIEW PROFILE

Roland Wesch, age 75, of Lincoln and formerly of McCook, was surrounded by his family when he passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the Journey House in Lincoln, Nebraska. Roland was born on June 10, 1946 in McCook, Nebraska to Edward Roland and Josephine Almira (McMains) Wesch. He attended West Ward through the fifth grade and District 41 through the eighth grade. Roland graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1964 and continued his education at McCook Community College where he also played in a band, the Knightmen. After graduation from college, Roland moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked at First National Bank of Colorado and later entered into the Colorado State Patrol in 1972. He was stationed in Longmont, Colorado. In February of 1973, Roland married Susan Werner in Grant, Nebraska. The couple moved back to McCook where Roland helped his dad on the family farm. In addition to the farm, Roland also worked with several different businesses in the area: Southwest Implement, John Deere, Kleins, and NAPA. He was highly respected by the local farmers which made him successful in all of his jobs. In his spare time, Roland enjoyed fishing, putting together model airplanes, and drinking a cold Pepsi. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, David Werner; niece, Krissa Werner. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sue of Lincoln; daughter, Jennifer Dexter (Marty Almendarez) of Omaha; son, Jason (Missy) Wesch of Lincoln; six grandsons: Trey Jangulo, Zander Hobbs, Kyson Dexter, Marcus Wesch, Cole Wesch, and Logan Wesch; two granddaughters, Jordyn Dexter and Makenzi (Oscar) Barrientes; two great-granddaughters, Nyla and Nayloni Dexter; brother, Jerry (Sher) Wesch of Arizona; brother-in-law, Darrell (Joyce) Werner of Lincoln; as well as several nieces and nephews Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022 at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Inurnment will follow services in the Memorial Park Cemetery Columbarium in McCook. Services will be livestreamed on the Memorial United Methodist Church website, mccookumc.com. Memorials are suggested to Journey House, Tabitha End-of-Life Hospice Care of Lincoln, Nebraska in Roland’s Name. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.

Craig Larmon (1967)

Many good memories of Roland with The Knightmen.  He was a steady influence in the band and a kind person.  So sad to see that he has left us too soon.
