Janice Ruth "Jan" McGinness, 70 years of age, of Plymouth, NE passed away unexpectedly at her home July 27, 2017. She was born on October 19, 1946 in Denton, TX to Alfred and Mary (Beeler) Sanders. She was a graduate of McCook High School, McCook, NE. Jan and James "Jim" McGinness were married on June 12, 1965 and had lived in Plymouth since 1978. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church and had been a member of the ladies aid; and was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter Z in Beatrice. Jan enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's events, reading, crocheting, playing cards and games, watching Husker sports, and spending time with family and friends. 

Survivors include her children Steven McGinness and wife Mickey of Eudora, KS, and Alyssa Nash and husband Rollin of Edmond, OK; 3 grandchildren Madison and Jameson McGinness, and Kelsea Nash Schanbacher and husband Logan; brother Mike Sanders and wife Marla of McCook; sister Betty Barker of Gering; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jan was preceded in death by her parents Alfred Sanders and Mary Walker; stepfather Steven Jaques; and husband James "Jim" McGinness in 2013. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 31, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church, west of Plymouth with Reverend Marilyn Hasemann officiating. Interment will be in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon-8:00 PM Sunday and Monday until 11:30 AM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, and at the church one hour preceding the service on Monday. Family prayer service at 1:45 PM Monday at the church. Memorials to the P.E.O. Home in Beatrice or the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center with the funeral home in charge.
