McCOOK, Nebraska -- Aaron Lee Johnson died Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at his home in McCook. He was 68 years old.

Aaron was born in Trenton to Earl William and Eva Augustina (Wright) Johnson. He graduated from McCook High School in 1959.

On Jan. 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Sharon Louise Tennant in McCook. They made their home in McCook where they raised their three children. Aaron was a letter carrier for the US Post Office until his retirement after 32 years of service.

He was a member of the United Nebraska Muzzleloaders Association and the YMCA. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and building black powder guns. He was known for handing out Smarties® at the YMCA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Virgil Eugene Johnson; and a grandson, Joshua Luckie.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of McCook; son, Kent Johnson and wife, Michelle of Baldwin City, Kansas; daughters, Kris Cook and husband, Rick of Culbertson, Kyla Luckie and husband, Doug of Clear Lake, Iowa; sisters, Katherine Rousselle and husband, Delmar of Aurora, Colorado, Janice Kramer of Thornton, Colorado, Louise Morgan and husband, Robert of Franklin, Missouri; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Ed Thomas YMCA.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010, at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 9 a.m. -- 5 p.m., Saturday 9 -- noon, and Sunday 4 -- 8 p.m.
