In Memory

Polly Warburton (Childs) - Class Of 1955

Pauline Pearl Childs

December 17, 1935 - November 14, 2016

Pauline Pearl (Warburton) Childs, age 80, peacefully entered eternal rest on November 14, 2016 at Aurora, Colorado.

Pauline was born in Oberlin, Kansas on December 17, 1935 to Fred and Goldie (Larreau) Warburton. She attended McCook schools. Polly was employed by Woolworths, Fuller’s Café, and St. Catherine’s Hospital.

Polly married Raymond “Bub” Cemer in February 1955. They lived in Golden, CO and then Trenton, NE where Bub and Polly managed the creamery. They were blessed with four children. The family moved to Culbertson where Bub was Town Marshall and eventually to Wilber, NE where he was the Assistant Chief of Police and a Saline County Deputy. Polly worked at the Wilber Nursing Home and eventually became a dispatcher at the Saline County Sheriff’s Department. Bub passed away in March of 1977. In 1980 she married Ray Childs. They made their home in Martell and Crete, NE. Ray passed away in October of 2003.

Polly loved to embroidery. She made beautiful baby quilts for her grandchildren. The birth of each grandchild brought her great joy. She made it her goal to be the first person to bathe each of them. She would often reminisce of her days working at St. Catherine’s Hospital’s neonatal department. Polly had a passion for seeking out a great bargain and loved to refinish and restore antique furniture. If you ever dropped in on Polly you would most likely find her cleaning something. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and putting jigsaw puzzles. After her mom Goldie became ill Polly opened her home and her heart to lovingly care for her. Once her husband retired she loved to travel with him. Her favorite destinations were Cancun and Hawaii. Mom also enjoyed visiting her children and grandchildren. We could count on mom rolling up her sleeves and blessing us with her top notch cleaning skills.

Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Goldie Warburton; husband, Ray “Bub” Cemer; husband, Ray Childs; brothers, Robert (JoAnn), Claude “Rocky” and Walter (Thelma).

Polly is survived by her son, Curtis Cemer (Diane) of Aurora, CO; daughters, Debra Zajicek of Omaha, NE., Heidi Fahrnburch (Bob) of Hallam, NE., andValerie (Richard) of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Cory (Amber), Bo, Nicole (Brad), Tyler, Morgan, Nathan, Olivia and Bryce; great-grandchildren, Devon, Isaac, Izabella, Caitlin, Emma, Quinn and Ethan.
