Marilyn Corey, 77, of Lake City, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family. 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Lake City Union Church in Lake City with the Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating and burial in Lake City Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Marilyn was born Aug. 16, 1936, at McCook, Nebraska, to Lyle and Bertha (Campbell) Modrell. She graduated from McCook Community College and then Colorado State College in 1958. On July 21, 1963, Marilyn married Clayton Corey at McCook, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. 

Marilyn worked as a teacher in the Colorado Springs, Rockwell City, Lake City and Southern Cal School Districts before retiring in 1997 when she decided to stay at home to baby sit her grandchildren. 

She was a member of Lake City Union Church and was very active in Christian education. 

She was a member of the Deborah Circle, taught Bible school, Sunday school and Youth Group at Union Church in Lake City. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a women's educational organization.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Clayton, children Melanie (Ron) Ludwig and their children Allie, Zach and Conner, Stephanie (Mike) Patterson and their children Breanne and John, Perry (Stacy) Corey and their children Hannah, Sam and Cole, all of Lake City, and Tiffanie (Ron) Saak and their children Tiana, Cora, Jessica, and Clay of Grundy Center. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Robert Modrell.
