Otis Clasby-Class of 1951

Otis L. Clasby, 82, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away April 15, 2016.

Otis was born July 29, 1933, to Otis L. Clasby and Norma S. (Behlke) Clasby. He married Mary (Jones) Clasby on Sept. 15, 1960. Otis attended McCook High School and Elkhart University Ohio. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving both in the Army National Guard and U.S. Navy. He was a hospital administrator in Nebraska, Oregon and California, and a city manager in Cochella, California. Otis was an elder of St. John’s Lutheran Church Austin, Minnesota. He was also a previous member of Rotary and Lions Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, and traveled to Hawaii, Europe and Alaska.

Otis is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Norma; three nieces and a nephew raised in his home after the death of their mother, Mary Enix, Tuscon, Arizona, JoAnne (Von) Bailey, Anchor Pt., Alaska, Ida (Robert) Johnson, Medford, Oregon, and Wayne (Sylvia) Enix, Bonaire, Georgia; and nieces, Vicki King, Grand Island, Nebraska, Cathy Broz (Tom), McCook Nebraska, and Dr. Jeff (Dr. Mary), Rochester, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Norma Clasby; and sister Bettie Fidler.

Otis’ body was donated to Mayo Clinic, and services were held Monday, April 18, 2016, officiated by Pastor Robert Bailey of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
