COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Iris Rowley, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2016, surrounded by her wonderful family. She was a mother, homemaker, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and trusted friend who also, years ago, had retired from Hewlett Packard.
Iris Irene Bamesberger was born on Sept. 11, 1931, in Indianola, Neb., to Carl and Amelia (Fichtner) Bamesberger. She was a 1949 graduate of Indianola High School. She married Russell Dean Rowley on Feb. 3, 1952, in McCook, Neb.
Together, they raised a family and were residents of Colorado Springs for over 60 years. Iris was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Iris was a woman of family and faith and will be best remembered for her strength, loyalty and compassion that she had for husband and her family.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Kathy) Rowley of Colorado Springs; and her sisters, Lois (Nile) Leuking of Anaheim, Calif., Arlene Clapp of Portland, Ore., and Ruth Shields of McCook. She is also survived by her brother, Dale (Janet) Bamesberger of Indianola.
Iris had five grandchildren, Josh (Casey) Rowley, Mitch (Courtney) Rowley, Kimberly (Gabe) Meidinger, and Jana (Patrick) McCullough and Jason Gentzel; and nine great-grandchildren, Connor, Russell, Bo, Cody, Zoe, Lincoln, Seth, Zane and Shohn.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russ in 1998 and her daughter, Cynthia Hope Gentzel in 2014.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, at The Springs Funeral Service, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road in Colorado Springs.
A reception is planned at the family's home.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
