Arthur W. Johnson, AECS, USN, Retired, age 89, of Overland, Missouri, Asleep in Jesus, Sunday, August 27, 2017. He was born on Sunday, May 27, 1928 in McCook, Nebraska, the son of the late Earl Arthur and Lenora Marie (nee Schmitz) Johnson.

Art was the beloved husband of the late Pauline V. Johnson (nee Edwards); dearest father of Earl "Butch" (Elsie) Johnson, Kimberly (Scott) Leitman, Denise (Lonnie) Welch, Debbie (late Bill) Durham, Lori (Alan) Dobson and Larry (Kristina) Tiehes; cherished grandfather of 15, great-grandfather of 18, and great-great-grandfather of one; dear brother of Donald (Millie) Johnson, Wayne (Myra) Johnson and the late Earl A. Johnson; our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Art honorably served our country for twenty years in the Navy including the Korean War. He also retired from McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) as an aviation electrician. He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Overland, Missouri and a Past-President and member of American Legion Post #397, Creve Coeur, Missouri.

Services: Visitation at SHEPARD FUNERAL CHAPEL, 9255 Natural Bridge Road at I-170, St. Louis, MO (314-426-6000) on Wednesday, August 30 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the Tenth District American Legion Guard of Honor Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation also at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9135 Shelley Avenue, Overland, MO (314-427-3444) on Thursday, August 31 from 9:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors follows at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO.
