Denicie Joseph Obituary

JOSEPH Denicie Queen Joseph, 85, wife of the late John F. Joseph Jr, died peacefully in her Lexington home on Thu morning, Feb 12, 2009. Mrs. Joseph, commonly known as Queen, was born in Oberlin, KS on March 25, 1923, daughter of William Winfield Snowden and Denicie Olmstead Snowden. She grew up in McCook, NB with her siblings William Snowden, Lester Snowden, and Helen Snowden Sutton. She met John F. Joseph Jr, her husband for 57 years, on a blind date while he was serving in the Army Air Corps. They were married in McCook, NB and returned to Mr. Joseph's hometown of Lexington after he was discharged in 1945, where they lived and raised their children Janice Lee Joseph (Claudia Kling), Newington, CT, John Lester (Roxanne) Joseph, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Jackie Lynn (William) Briscoe, Lexington. Mrs. Joseph was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was an active supporter of a variety of local charitable functions. Her cotton candy and snow cones, and her beautiful handmade dolls, teddy bears, quilts and crafts are well-remembered by all who knew her. Other family members include grandchildren Rachel Joseph Mayoh, Hilton Head Island, SC; Benjamin Schneider Joseph, Minneapolis, MN; William Joseph Briscoe, Lexington, KY; Danielle Denicie Kling-Joseph, Newington, CT; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10:30am Mon at W. R. Milward Mortuary - Broadway, followed by a funeral service at 11:30am and burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family requests no flowers.
