Betty Barrett Gilmore Semet Russell, a native of McCook, NB, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014, at the age of 90. Betty retired from Woman's Hospital with many years of service. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 10 am until funeral services in the chapel at 12 noon officiated by Rev. Huey Moak. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her husband, J.B. Russell, Jr., two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Bill Cathey, and Jackie and Ted Braud; step children, Jimmy Russell, Janice Russell Gautreau, Jay and Sherri Russell; daughter-in-law, Marie Russell; five grandsons, Chris and wife Valerie Cathey, Dale and wife Catherine Cathey, Teddie and wife Jennifer Braud, Wesley and wife Barbara Braud and Taylor and wife Amy Braud; ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Aidan, Will, Garrett, Paige, and Ava Belle Cathey, Douglas, Jonah, Haley, and Adelyn Braud; step-grandchildren, Glynn and wife Alissa Russell; Julie and husband Andy Simpson; Shannon Russell; Aimee and husband Todd Murray; and Jason and wife Aaron Russell; step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Poole and Addison Russell, Ella Murray, and James and Levi Russell.; and Audrey McChesney, a cousin who was raised as her sister, and husband LeRoy. Preceded in death by her parents and five infant brothers. Donations may be made to Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
