Violet Mae Foster, 87, of Littleton Colorado, died on March 11, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at Ft Logan National Cemetery on Monday, March 18 at 12:00 PM.

Violet is survived by her husband Durward Foster , daughters Barbara Peters of Strasburg, Virginia Donna Peterson of Littleton Colorado, Mary Johnson of Littleton, Colorado and seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Sue Tatum.

Violet was born on April 21, 1925 in McCook, Nebraska. She graduated from McCook High School in 1942.

Violet married Durward Foster’40 on May 31, 1942 and they were happily married for 70 years.

Violet was an avid reader, and kept a library of books. She also authored several short stories. She loved animals and always had an adopted pet in her home. She was an accomplished seamstress, as demonstrated by her ability to keep her 4 daughters well clothed using older materials to make modern fashions. Violet valued her family above all else. She decorated her home not with oils and canvas, but with photos of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also traveled the entire United States with Durward, tracing both their family histories.
