CULBERTSON -- Loretta A. Felker died Thursday (March 11, 2010) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. She was 91 years old.

On Feb. 12, 1919, Loretta was born to Edward J. and Estella Hazel (Eifert) Steckmyer at McCook. She grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 1937.

Harold M. Felker and Loretta were married on Oct. 20, 1943, at Atwood, Kan. Two children, Tom and Terri were born to this union.

Loretta worked as a bookkeeper at the West Sale Barn for 40 years. She had lived with her daughter Terri and husband, Ernie for the last four years before moving to El Dorado Manor in January. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. She especially loved making Christmas candy. She was her class representative for the Bison Alumni Newsletter for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold in 1991; brothers, Eugene Miller, Elwin "Bud" Steckmyer and James Steckmyer; and sisters, Margaret Herron and Rita Rogers.

Survivors include her son, Tom and wife, Irene Felker and daughter, Terri and husband Ernie Markwad all of Culbertson; and a brother, John "Bill" and wife, Ursula Steckmyer of Bad Kissingen, Germany; and special friends, Margaret and Dick Powell of McCook.

Memorials are being accepted in her name.
