McCOOK, ?Nebraska -- Maxine Goodenberger passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at her home at Willow Ridge Senior Living Community. She was 94.

Maxine was born July 10, 1917, in McCook to Otto and Bessie (Groves) Huet. She began school in Laird, Colorado, but the family soon moved back to McCook. Maxine graduated from McCook High School in 1935. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Red Willow County Attorney at the Red Willow Courthouse. She also worked as a case worker and secretary at the Red Willow County Assistance Office. Maxine held these two positions for eight years.

On March 23, 1940, Maxine married Wayne Goodenberger in McCook. In the 1950s the family moved to a farm south of Indianola and remained there until January 2001, when they retired and moved to McCook.

She is a 60 year member of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Family Frolic Square Dance Club, and the Good Sam Camping Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Bessie; husband, Wayne on Aug. 17, 2002; sister, Bernadine Lafferty; brother, Roger Huet; an infant son, Larry Allen; and two great-granddaughters.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, DeWayne and Jan of McCook, Lynn and Jolene of Omaha, Nebraska, Raymond and Margaret of Hershey, Nebraska, and Janice and Eldon Walters of North Platte, Nebraska; brother, Lawrence Huet of College Station, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 1 -- 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
